News from the Cemetery Board:
On Wednesday, May 20, Jim Yngsdal, Tom Nygaard and Tamra Berg held their annual meeting. Last year we hired LaCrosse Monuments to help straighten a few of the older monuments. Lewiston Monuments was contacted to straighten Bud Kyllo’s with no charge. LaCrosse will return this summer to continue to fix some of the larger monuments. Tom Nygaard fixed quite a few of the smaller ones last summer and plans to work on a few more this summer. You will see some flags marking those that need attention. Our lawn
service is Bitter Creek Outdoor Service. Cody Gjemse is the owner and has been very responsive when he was messaged about any concerns. We thought the cemetery looked very nice for Memorial Day.
The Cemetery Board has received a very generous gift from the Aryln and Mardell Johnson estate. Aryln was a longtime Cemetery Board member and he and Mardell wanted to see the cemetery grounds always looking nice. We will continue to honor that request. Arlyn and Mardell believed in the goodness of giving and the importance of leaving the world a little better than they found it. May we all try to do the same.
We have noted that there are quite a few empty plant stands. Buelke’s would deliver the planted pots but had fewer this year. The board will remove, mark and store those stands in case their family comes to claim them. We felt seeing empty stands feels like those graves are forgotten. A reminder that if we see that flower plantings are unkept we will remove them.
We certainly welcome any suggestions, comments or criticisms anyone may have. We are just acting as caretakers and trying to honor those that are buried at Emmanuel.
